Course program

Day 1	Introduction to casting as the oldest and basic technique of manufacturing machine parts Advantages and disadvantages of casting and cast machine parts The current state of the casting industry in the world and in Poland and its development prospects Division of casting technologies, with particular emphasis on traditional methods based on sand matrix
Day 2	Cast design process to ensure its manufacturability Designing the casting mold and model instrumentation Methods of making casting molds and cores - classification and discussion of the most important production methods Making a split mold from quartz-clay molding sand step by step Basic casting alloys and melting process - general information
Day 3	Classification of casting defects Shape, raw surface, discontinuities and internal defects - discussion of the most important of them Causes of the most common defects in castings and ways to prevent them Cast acceptance criteria - a compromise between the foundry and the customer OHS in a metal foundry

Laboratory

Trainings can be conducted at client‘s premises (foundry) or in EMT-Systems training rooms. In this case, some classes take place in laboratories of our partner school, equipped with all tools and materials necessary to practice the forming process and to examine molding material properties.

Our experts

Tutor in this course is long-serving academic teacher specializing in the field of metal casting. He possesses extensive industrial experience, also as a tutor of courses for the engineers working in foundries. He was awarded a number of certificates and qualifications in quality and production management systems. He has written many publications (including industry magazines) and spent two years working as an apprentice in the leading industrial plants, also abroad. Practical activities will be supervised by the mold maker with many years of experience in manual production of molds.

During each training day, participants receive:
