Trainings in plastic
forming processes
Plastic forming – a method of forming metals and their alloys through mechanical deformation; the workpiece is reshaped without adding or removing material, and its mass remains unchanged.
The shaping process may be performed in several ways:
- Hot forming
- Semi-hot forming
- Cold forming
Due to the type of deformation, we distinguish:
- Extrusion – applicable for sheet metal and belts that change the shape without changes in thickness
- Rolling – the material is pressed by the rollers
- Forging – the materials is shaped using a hammer, swaging machine or press
- Sealing – the material is in positioned in a container called recipient and shaped using the matrix
- Drawing – the material is drawn through a die
Objectives:
- Learning the methods of plastic forming and relevant fields of application
- Familiarizing the tools used in plastic forming processes of metals and their alloys
- Acquiring the skills of designing engineering processes with the use of plastic forming methods
